Cultural Audit
Part of the work of the Teignbridge Community Safety Partnership has involved consultation with local minority / vulnerable groups. Teignbridge Racist Incidents Priority Action Team and South Hams Against Racism Priority Action Team commissioned research to look at community safety and service provision for minority ethnic groups in the Teignbridge and South Hams District Council areas. This Cultural Audit was the first of its kind to assess the needs of people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. It has sought the opinions, feelings and ideas of 320 diverse respondents from 26 different heritages in relation to the following:
The public services they receive
Their experience of racism
Their involvement and engagement with the wider community
Their willingness to be involved with future consultation.
Overall the findings were very positive, the majority of respondents were happy with the services they received and had little experience of overt racism.
